Annas Foto
The photography shop and studio "Annas Foto" was run for many years by photographer Anna Kaspersen. However, the business was founded as early as 1895 and operated under various owners until 1986.
According to the North Jutland Coastal Museum (Nordjyllands Kystmuseum), the studio began as "Steen Møllers Eftf." (Steen Møller’s Successor) and was originally a branch of Steen Møller’s studio in Frederikshavn.
- In 1901, "Ingeborg Schjørring & Brøndberg" are listed as the photographers.
- In 1904, they were succeeded by Miss Aagaard (1878–1922).
- Around 1924, the studio moved from Vestergade to Aalborgvej 1 (now Henrik Nielsens Plads 4).
- In 1930, the business was taken over by Mary Christensen (1891–1977), who ran it until 1945–1946.
It therefore appears that Anna Kirstine Kaspersen took over the business in 1945–46 and continued to operate it as Annas Foto until her passing in 1986.
The building housing the studio was constructed according to the principles of the "Bedre Byggeskik" (Better Building Practice) association. The image below shows how the house was adapted over time to serve as a shop and studio: two of the original windows were replaced with larger display windows, and an extension was added featuring two additional display windows. On the first floor, a rather attractive dormer window with a large glass area was added.
The building was demolished in 1982 and replaced by a new, larger building in the same architectural style. Anna Kaspersen continued the business in part of the new building until her passing, after which Sparekassen Bikuben took over her business premises, according to a thread from February 8th, 2014, in the Facebook group "Gamle Sæby billeder" (Old Sæby Photos).
